Matthew 11:28 Come unto Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.
Isn’t it great to be reminded how Jesus gives His invitation to enter His rest. He is so gentle, so inviting. His words make us want to jump into His arms and be comforted by Him, the Eternal Comforter. What a blessing our Jesus is. God our heavenly Father has made it so easy to come to Him. But if we’re not careful, we can end up complicating His good offer. Shortly after the words of Jesus, in Matthew 11 were spoken, the religious leaders of the day were trying to “correct” Jesus and His disciples. Jesus politely listened to every word and accusation thrown at Him but then proceeded to lovingly and firmly bring reality to their lives. Shortly thereafter, Jesus was ridiculed for His healing service on the Sabbath day. Sadly, Jesus’ leading rarely impacted the rulers of His day. Let’s remember our rest is found in Jesus and in Him alone. His burden is light!
