God knew we would easily fall into times when we would wonder aloud, “What have You done for me lately?” Sad to think we could ask such a question, but the all knowing Almighty God always has the answer. Jesus, God the Son, went to the cross and died for each and everyone of us. That is what God has done for us lately. The Lord has given us the opportunity to be reminded of Jesus’ sacrifice. We are reminded when we come to the Communion table. The Communion privilege is exclusively for believers. Men and women that have Jesus as their Savior in common.
As like-minded believers we come and share in the Communion privilege with one another and with Jesus Himself. We are bounded as believers in love for one another. When we engage in Communion, we are demonstrating an outward act of comrade toward one another. This comrade is only genuine amongst Christ believing people. 1 John 1:7 tell us…if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. What a joy to know as we draw close to the Lord, He will draw close to us. That Christian closeness is found in the finished work of Jesus, as reminded by the Communion privilege, the Communion table.
The Communion table reminding us again and again, that Jesus died, and rose from the dead on the third day. For the believer, death is conquered by our risen Lord. Simply put, that is what the Lord Jesus has done for us. That eternal reminder is as near as the Communion table. Let’s abide often. Thank you Lord for all You have done for us!
